White Heron at Disney, Another look...

The lighting was tough at Disney that day, but I wanted to give you a closer look at a White Heron. Also if you have time, click to enlarge and see if you can tell me what this "hot spot" looking thing is on his beak. I get this from time to time with my camera. It showed up in a tree once and looked like something out of a Hitchcock movie. Scarry looking.

Thanks for stopping by,
Craig

well I love both photos..really..I like the light and shadow in this photo...and the one below uses the light nicely as well.

Look like you got a pixel that has gone full on. My old Point and Shoot has three of them. This happens when an individual pixel turns full on.

It's fun to shoot birds in public places where they are used to people!

I can't get over how close you were able to get to it. Such a pretty bird that you captured very well. I love its tail feathers.

Isn't this bird beautiful with those fancy feathers hanging?? Have you ever seen photos of these guys during the mating season - wow - they are so graceful and gorgeous and they look as if they are performing a ballet! I would love to someday photograph them and see that 'green' eye patch they get, too! Very nice, Craig!

Very cool. My wive and I, Lana, were at Fountainbleu state park this afternoon and she got a bunch of cool photos of pelicans and a couple of some herons and egrets. She's a real nature photographer as well, and I'm glad she takes me along for the ride. I'll copy her link here in case you want to visit: http://lucidflora.blogspot.com/

She's got a pic up now of some Pine Siskins, although I'm betting she's soon going to put up stuff from today's hike.

Did you notice the green around the base of the beak? That is the beginning of the breeding colors.
