Dragonfly

Eastern Pondhawk - Erythemis simplicicollis

Well it took a lot of research but I found it. Well actually some lady in South Africa found it, but only because of the photo I provided for her. LOL! Thanks Joan! You're the best. I am off now to get some cool "Did you know" information and will post it later.

Thank you for stopping by,

Though I can't..your picture here is nice. I really enjoy these guys. Seems we have a lot of blue ones who are often seen gliding over the water.

We get a lot of dragonflies here in Alaska, but none like yours. He is such a pretty color. Great photos!

Joan,

What are you talking about!?! I identify your stuff all the time! It's not my fault you take the wrong photo's on most of them! LOL

Thanks I will check it out. I went through dozens of photos and haven't found him yet.

Can't help you on the name but love the spotted tail on this creature!!
keep us posted on that name when you find it!!

This is the female and not the male Craig. Their coloring is different.

LOL!! You are so brilliant at identifying them too.....well what do I know.....we are a bit backward here and our education system is definitely lacking the skills needed for such things as being able to tell an elephant from a mosquito. LOL!! Besides, what do I know about bugs and inscects anyway!! :)

So Craig, why don't you design a web site that will identify bugs, birds, blondes....

It can be like the databases they use on CSI for face recognition. You upload your picture and it scans the archives for a identity.

I'm looking forward to trying dragon and damsel flies this summer. I hope I can do at least half as good as you did today!
