Mystery Critter Wednesday Round 5 Solved

Fungi

Well like I said, it was not a critter this week but if you use your imagination it kind of looks like one of Joan's South African critters she is always making up! I wish I know what kind of fungi this is but I do not. Perhaps some expert will come across this post and help me with the ID.

Thanks for stopping by,

Okay so it is not chocolate cake and cream but it definitely looks like an elephant with those two big ears and trunk. I did not think they were found in Florida but that just goes to show how much I know!! It seems like you are the one making animals up not me. LOL!! LOL!!

A great one Craig.I do not know the names of the fungi but we have the same ones here.

Craig: Funny how I guessed a tree stump when it the fungi was growing on one. That is the goat's beard fungus. See the beard coming off the tree stump.

LOL Tom,

That is why I said you were close but not in the way you would think!

Thanks for the ID, is the brown stuff that looks like ears the same or is it a different fungi?

Bonus points for Tom for giving an ID!!! Don't worry I will just take some points from Joan and give them to you! She'll love that!

Interesting about the fungi. I don't know it very well so don't want to seem like a dimwit by making a comment. LOL

I managed to get a new blog started a few days ago. It is only about flowers.

Craig: Of course its the same thing. The ears are so it can listen. Don't listen to that Joan, she will steer you wrong every time. Elephant ears indeed.
